Quogue Wildlife Refuge
This place is a beautiful nature preserve and a wonderful asset to the area since 1934. Gorgeous hiking trails and lake views. If you’re just looking for a peaceful getaway this is the perfect place for that. The animal sanctuary makes this place even more magical, where they keep several animals that are either being rehabilitated or are unable to be released back into the wild like birds, bobcat, falcons, foxes, owls, hawks, and turkey. The Nature Center during winter months displays of local and exotic reptiles, fish, and 4 tortoises. Also a great place to cross country ski.
Hike Rating: Peace of cake. Approximately 7 miles of trails to explore (300 acre non-profit nature preserve).
Cost: It is free to park and walk around.
