Nyack Beach State Park (Hook Mountain)
The main trail (southern half) is flat and runs right along the river at sea level is unpaved and flat and goes for at least 5 miles following the contour of the Hudson River on one side and the enormous Palisades cliffs on the other side. Seems very pet friendly along with plenty of space for bikes, runners, walker and the occasional fisherman sitting on some rocks. The northern half of the trail is hilly, narrow and quite rocky (Advance).Great views of the Hudson River and Palisades Cliffs rock formations.
Hike Rating: Easy to Advance (scramble). Approximately 61-acre state park from 0.8 to 12 miles and from 6 to 728 feet above sea level. The Northern half (Hook Mountain) features 676-acre undeveloped state park with approximately 5.8 mile heavily trafficked loop trail .
Cost: $6 per car.
