Hudson Highlands State Park
This mostly undeveloped, 7400 acre state park has so many spots to explore, we couldn't cover the whole area in one day. This park consists of a series of separate parcels of land stretching from Annsville Creek in Peekskill, north to Dennings Point in Beacon. The hiking views are amazing. Due to its proximity to New York City, panoramic views of the river and mountains, and easy access by both automobile and rail, it can be very crowded sometimes.
Hike Rating: Advance to moderate hikers (There are 30 moderate trails ). Approximately 70 miles of trail. Washburn and Bull hill are moderate hiking trails. The views are just as beautiful but doesn't require the level of intensity as breckneck ridge. The white trail is like "rock-climbing" for advance hikers only.
Cost: We went on Spring 2021 on weekend. It was free entrance and free parking. There is parking available at different parts of the park. Also from the end of the blue trail, it was about a mile walk to the Cold Spring train station.
Location: 3260 NY-9D, Cold Spring, NY 10516
kids: Great for kids, but they need to be good hikers.
Dogs: There was many dog on leash.
