Hempstead Lake State Park
This park has everything you need. Included are 18 tennis courts, 6 pickleball courts, children's playgrounds, basketball courts, bridle trails for horseback riding, hiking or biking trails, shaded picnic areas and a historic hand-carved wooden carousel. Beautiful at any time of the year.
Hike Rating: Peace of cake. The park has 737-acre state park, approximately 3 to 4 miles of trails.
Cost: $8 per car daily on May 25-Sept. 2, weekends/holidays Sept. 7-Oct. 14

kids: Great for kids plenty of space to run around with athletic facilities and playgrounds and trails.
Dogs: Allowed on leashes in designated areas.
