Finger Lakes National Forest
The Finger Lakes National Forest is the only national forest in New York State (Tucked away between Lake Seneca and Lake Cayuga). Set between two Finger lakes, where it gets it's name, the forest is as diverse as the people and towns that surround it. Remote with many trails and dirt roads to hike. Areas of water and waterfalls, views over Seneca Lake. Many trails have periodic ways to get back to main roads too. Come and explore you can find homesteads from 200 years ago and creeks that turn into great waterfalls.
Hike Rating: Easy to Moderate. Approximately 30 miles of trails (16,032 acres).

Location: Burdett, NY 14818 (It’s roughly a 4 hour drive northwest from New York City).
kids: Great for kids plenty of space to run around lots of nature.
Dogs: Dogs are allowed into the forest on a leash or kept in a secure enclosure at all times.
