Bear mountain
At 2,316 feet, Bear Mountain is the highest peak in Connecticut. Very well-marked trails connects with the Appalachian Trail, scrambles over some great rock sections, and there is the stone tower on the summit (built in 1885).The views are great.
Hike Rating: Moderate to Advance/scramble. The trail is steep and rocky
Cost: It is free to park.
Location: Salisbury, CT 06068 (The trailhead and parking lot are located right off Route 41).
kids: Good for kids if they like to hike (not for toddlers).
Dogs: Allowed on leashes.
